This study aimed at investigating students’ perceptions toward Indian English in communication and teaching and learning. Using mixed-method explanatory story, this study collected the data by administering a questionnaire to 20 students enrolled in a listening class and 3 of them voluntarily participated in semi-structured interview. This study revealed that the students view Indian English as friendly, interesting, clear and competent accent. They also accepted the variety in communication. However, there is still a strong tendency of nativeness. The students highly value native-like sound when they speak English. Reflecting on the findings, it is recommended to expose different English varieties, especially Asian English varieties to prepare students with real-life communication. It is also worth pointing to conduct studies in Asian English, not only the accents but also its availability in a learning process.
Siffa Annisa Fitri Ramadhani, Siti Wahida, Nina Listiana Copyright (c) 2024 JURNAL PENDIDIKAN DAN SAINS https://jupisi.untara.ac.id/index.php/jupisi/article/view/151 Tue, 20 Aug 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Identification of subsurface structures using the Wenner-Schlumberger configuration geoelectric method in Rokan Hulu Regency https://jupisi.untara.ac.id/index.php/jupisi/article/view/152
This study aims to determine the subsurface structure using the geoelectric configuration method Wenner-Schlumberger in the geothermal area of Pawan Village. In fact, education requires interesting implementation and learning. Teachers are one of the implementers of teaching in schools, as a benchmark for success. With competent teachers and long experience in learning at school, the school will progress. This type of research uses descriptive analytics where researchers not only explain certain phenomena, but researchers participate in analyzing phenomena that occur in accordance with what occurs in the field. Learning resources are not only from textbooks, but can be obtained from books in the library. The use of library books can increase student motivation and improve writing by looking at the results of the sentence descriptions they write on student worksheets. In addition, students will be more active and enthusiastic in participating in learning as well as being able to creatively arrange words to fill in student worksheets.

Slamet Pamuji Copyright (c) 2024 JURNAL PENDIDIKAN DAN SAINS https://jupisi.untara.ac.id/index.php/jupisi/article/view/61 Mon, 13 May 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Can entrepreneurship be taught to young people with autism? A simulation of entrepreneurship for children with autism in Malaysia https://jupisi.untara.ac.id/index.php/jupisi/article/view/44
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurocognitive condition that is often seen in young children and impacts a variety of developmental elements, including impairments in social interaction, recurrence of certain behavioural patterns, and issues with verbal and non-verbal communication. These young people frequently struggle with self-management issues and need on the help of their family and communities. The individual is typically taught autonomous chores such as taking care of personal hygiene (bathing, cleaning equipment, etc.) and cleaning their living area by autism treatment centres, particularly in Malaysia. It's critical to acquire life skills, such as the capacity to work, in addition to one's capacity for self-management, to prevent becoming a burden to one's family and society. These other equally significant parts of life, such as entrepreneurial abilities, are not addressed. In order to build entrepreneurial skills and provide job experience for high-functioning autistic children, this project aims to create modules based on cognitive and psychomotor learning. It also conducts entrepreneurial simulations and tests the participants' knowledge of the field. The success of this entrepreneurship programme will be evaluated using observational and focus group discussion (FGD) approaches. The accompanying instructors and student volunteers will get training for trainers to ensure the success of this module. There are four sections to this module: Training for training, business simulation, business implementation, and effectiveness assessment are the first four steps. The expected outcome of this project is to create a module for high-functioning autistic young people that focuses on cognitive and psychomotor-based entrepreneurship abilities. Additionally, it is anticipated that this module will aid in preventing autism sufferers from experiencing long-term poverty, particularly those who belong to lower-income households.
Yohan Kurniawan, Ruzaini Ijon, Siti Fathihah Abd Latif, Ateerah Abdul Razak Mohamed, Fairuz A'dilah Rusdi, Nik Ahmad Farhan Nik Azim Copyright (c) 2024 JURNAL PENDIDIKAN DAN SAINS https://jupisi.untara.ac.id/index.php/jupisi/article/view/44 Mon, 13 May 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Exposing character content in text-based Indonesian language teaching materials in the 2013 Curriculum https://jupisi.untara.ac.id/index.php/jupisi/article/view/59
The implementation of text-based language learning in the 2013 Curriculum resulted in changes to teaching materials according to the learning stages. Assertive behavior is the behavior of someone who is able to act according to their own wishes, defend themselves without feeling nervous, express their feelings, exercise their personal rights by saying what they are, without being hindered, and not exceeding other people's boundaries. Assertive behavior can be influenced by several factors, one of which is self-concept. The aim of this research is to understand the influence of self-concept on assertive behavior among students in Jakarta. The respondents of this research involved 132 students in Jakarta. This research uses the Simple Linear Regression Analysis method and finds the influence of self-concept related to assertive behavior. The results show that self-concept has an influence of 31.6%. These results also show that assertive behavior is higher for men than women, but there are no differences in self-concept based on gender.
Rizqi Alifiah, Ditta Febrieta Copyright (c) 2024 JURNAL PENDIDIKAN DAN SAINS https://jupisi.untara.ac.id/index.php/jupisi/article/view/74 Mon, 13 May 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Implementation of environmentally caring character in green schools https://jupisi.untara.ac.id/index.php/jupisi/article/view/58
This study aims to explore how the implementation of environmental care character in high schools located in Jakarta.
